At The Sound Horse, nutrition services are designed for owners who want to improve their horse’s health while creating a feeding program that is practical, targeted, and cost-conscious. Each horse is evaluated as an individual, with recommendations based on forage, concentrates, supplements, workload, body condition, health history, management, and the owner’s goals.
My approach focuses on identifying nutritional gaps, eliminating unnecessary overlap, simplifying complicated feeding programs, and making sure the products being used are actually appropriate and fed at meaningful amounts. The goal is not to add more—it is to make the entire program work better.
Pricing reflects the time, research, education, and individualized analysis that go into each recommendation. Every consultation is designed to help owners spend more intentionally while supporting better health, performance, and long-term well-being.

FEED & SUPPLEMENT AUDIT
A focused review of your horse’s current feeding program designed to identify unnecessary overlap, questionable products, under-dosed supplements, and opportunities to simplify the ration.
This service is ideal for owners who want to know whether they are spending money on products their horse may not actually need.
Your audit includes:
• Review of current forage, feed, concentrates, and supplements
• Identification of duplicated nutrients or overlapping products
• Review of whether supplements are being fed at meaningful amounts
• Identification of products that may not be providing clear value
• Review of obvious nutritional gaps or concerns
• Estimated current monthly feed and supplement cost
• Recommendations for what to keep, reconsider, reduce, or eliminate
• Written summary of findings
This service does not include a completely redesigned feeding program. If you are looking for a full individualized ration with exact feeding recommendations, the Complete Nutrition Plan is the better fit.

COMPLETE NUTRITION PLAN
The Complete Nutrition Plan is a full evaluation and redesign of your horse’s feeding program with the goal of improving health, reducing unnecessary expenses, and making every part of the ration more intentional.
Each plan is built around the individual horse rather than a one-size-fits-all feeding recommendation.
Your consultation includes:
• Detailed nutrition and management intake
• Review of forage, concentrates, feeds, and supplements
• Body condition, workload, age, health history, and management considerations
• Identification of nutrient overlap, gaps, and unnecessary products
• Evaluation of current supplement amounts and intended purpose
• Individualized feeding recommendations with specific amounts
• Product alternatives when appropriate
• Current monthly feeding cost estimate
• Recommended monthly feeding cost estimate
• Estimated monthly and annual savings when applicable
• Written individualized nutrition plan
• 30-minute phone or video consultation
• One follow-up adjustment within 30 days
The goal is not simply to add more products. It is to create a feeding program that supports better health while remaining practical, efficient, and financially sustainable.

NUTRITION MANAGEMENT PLAN
The Nutrition Management Program is designed for horses whose nutritional needs require continued monitoring and adjustment over time.
This service is especially helpful for performance horses, harder keepers, horses undergoing body condition changes, horses returning to work, or owners who want continued professional support while implementing a new feeding program.
The program includes everything provided in the Complete Nutrition Plan, plus:
• 60–90 days of nutrition support
• Scheduled progress reassessment
• Review of updated body condition and progress photos
• Adjustments to feed, forage, or supplement amounts as needed
• Review of new products before they are added to the program
• Follow-up questions throughout the management period
• Final updated nutrition plan based on the horse’s response
Nutrition programs sometimes need refinement once the horse has had time to respond. This service allows adjustments to be made intentionally rather than adding or removing products without knowing what is actually working.
