THE SOUND HORSE
EXERCISE, CONDITIONING, & NUTRITION
WHERE SOUNDNESS MEETS CONSISTENCY
At The Sound Horse, exercise and conditioning are approached with the same intention and respect for the horse as nutrition and wellness. My work has developed over 22 years of hands-on experience recognizing how thoughtful, consistent movement directly impacts soundness, performance, and mental well-being. What began as conditioning and maintaining horses through various stages of work, and disciplines, evolved into a deep appreciation for biomechanics, balance, and sustainable fitness. I provide individualized exercise, conditioning, and rehab-support services designed to keep horses comfortable, willing, and correctly exercised without overfacing or shortcuts. Whether supporting a horse returning to work, maintaining fitness for a busy owner, or promoting long-term soundness, each program is tailored with care, consistency, and the horse’s best interest at the center.

"Maintaining and enhancing a horse’s movement so they perform at their best."

Behind The Scenes
Are you looking for thoughtful, professional support to keep your horse sound, fit, and comfortable in their work? At Sound Horse, Stephanie, an equine exercise physiologist and nutritionist, offers equine exercise, conditioning, rehab support, and nutrition services designed to promote longevity, consistency, and overall well-being. Here’s a look at the experience and philosophy behind her approach.
With well over 4,000 hours of equine-focused education and 20+ years in the equine industry, Stephanie brings a deep understanding of how correct movement, biomechanics, and consistency directly impact a horse’s physical and mental health. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science from Post University and has extensive hands-on experience maintaining and conditioning horses at various stages of work across many disciplines, from barrel racing to dressage to jumping. Her background and degree in Psychology further enhance her ability to read horses, adapt to individual temperaments, and support owners with clear, thoughtful communication. She is also advancing her knowledge with a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Equine Exercise Physiology and Equine Nutrition.
Stephanie’s passion for exercise and conditioning developed over years of maintaining horses in consistent work, recognizing patterns of stiffness, imbalance, and fatigue, and understanding how small movement details can significantly affect soundness over time. Her approach emphasizes correct flatwork, gradual conditioning, and low-stress programs that support horses returning to work, staying fit during busy schedules, or maintaining long-term comfort and rideability.
Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all routines, Stephanie takes a whole-horse, individualized approach, integrating knowledge of anatomy, conditioning principles, and wellness to ensure each horse is worked with intention and care. While she has a special interest in supporting horses returning to work after rehabilitation, her services are designed to benefit horses of all disciplines and activity levels.
Thank you for exploring Sound Horse’s approach to professional equine exercise and conditioning. If you’re seeking consistent, thoughtful care that prioritizes soundness and sustainability, Stephanie looks forward to working with you and your horse.
